WorldMasterCard Fashion Week (WMCFW) brings together the best of fashion and style in Toronto twice a year. I have been to WMCFW for past three seasons, in all my visits I have photographed and enjoyed DaintyGirl’s outfit. She has a way to incorporate elegance and casual together into a single outfit. One Day 5 of WMCFW SS 2015 she wore a Miriam Baker laced full skirt dress; elegance was at the forefront of her look. She like myself is a big fan of the 50s/60s era of fashion where elegance, simplicity and beauty were all incorporated into lifestyle.
I know that it has been two months since WMCFW took place but I thought that the elegance and simplicity of this dress/outfit make it a perfect option for NYE.
The following are words of Ms Nicole Wilson aka DaintyGirl:
WMCFW always ends with stunning dresses and gowns on the runway from evening wear pros like Stephan Caras and Mikael D. I felt inspired to play dress up on Day 5 with a dainty ensemble of my own! I’m a huge fan of vintage 50s/60s era fashion so I channeled Betty Draper (of Mad Men) with this outfit and beauty to match!
The look came together around a stunning eyelet lace dress by local designer (and 2014 TFI New Labels winner), Miriam Baker. I adore the fitted bodice and full skirt with crisp contrasting collar and cuffs - it fits like a dream and the fully lined fabric is perfect for a cool fall evening. I styled the dress with a statement making red coat (worn over the shoulders like a cape), peekaboo patent leather pumps and simple, yet sparkly Swarovski earrings. My leather Sneha Varma tote was the perfect carryall for the evening events (and another amazing Canadian piece). For the finishing touch, my friends at Medulla & Co. salon gave me an amazing vintage faux-bob hairstyle which complemented the collar on the dress perfectly. This was such a fun look to wear, combining my love for dainty dresses, vintage style and supporting local designers.
